AfterShip alternatives for Shopify stores
AfterShip is the best-known order tracking app on Shopify, with about 1,500 reviews and a Built for Shopify badge. Merchants usually start looking for an alternative when they price out the features they actually want. On AfterShip's App Store listing, email and SMS notifications start on the Essentials plan ($11 a month for 100 shipments), and a tracking page on your own domain, AI delivery estimates and full analytics are Premium features at $70 a month for 500 shipments.
This guide compares the alternatives a small or mid-size Shopify store is likely to consider, starting with what Shopify already gives you for free. Prices, ratings and plan limits come from each app's Shopify App Store listing as of October 2026. Check the listing before you switch, because tracking apps change plans often.
Full disclosure: we make Tracktor, one of the apps below. We have tried to describe every app, ours included, by what its listing says, including where Tracktor is not the right fit.
Start with what Shopify already does for free
Before you pay for any tracking app, know the baseline. Every Shopify store has an order status page that shows the order, its fulfillment status and the tracking number. For supported carriers, Shopify shows real-time location updates on that page.
Shopify also sends four shipping notifications on its own: Shipping confirmation, Shipping update, Out for delivery and Delivered (Shopify's notification list). Shopify notes that tracking event sources, accuracy and timing vary by carrier.
What the free baseline does not give you is a standalone tracking page customers can find from your store's menu, an order lookup by order number and email, delivery estimates, or reports on late and stuck shipments. Those are the gaps a tracking app fills. If none of them matter to you, you may not need an app at all.
To add a tracking page to your store's menu, with or without an app, see how to add an order tracking page to your Shopify store.
AfterShip alternatives compared
The "200 shipments" column is the monthly cost of the cheapest plan that covers 200 shipments, using each listing's included volume and overage rate. Tracktor counts orders rather than shipments; for most stores that is the same number or lower.
| App | Free plan | First paid plan | Cost at 200 shipments | Rating (reviews) | Built for Shopify |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AfterShip Order Tracking | 50 shipments | $11 for 100 | $19 (100 overage at $0.08) | 4.6 (1,499) | Yes |
| Tracktor Order Tracking | 25 orders | $4.99 for 200 | $4.99 | 4.7 (154) | Yes |
| CWILL Order Tracking (formerly ParcelPanel) | 20 orders | $11 for 200 | $11 | 5.0 (3,172) | Yes |
| 17TRACK Order Tracking | 50 shipments | $9 for 200 | $9 | 4.9 (4,441) | Yes |
| TrackingMore Order Tracking | 50 shipments | $9 for 200 | $9 | 4.4 (382) | No |
| Track by Loop (formerly Wonderment) | None | $99 for 2,500 | $99 | 4.3 (76) | No |
| Route: Protection & Tracking | Free to install | Paid by shoppers who buy protection | $0 to you | 4.0 (377) | Not listed |
The cheapest plan is not always the one you need. The sections below say which plan unlocks the features merchants usually leave AfterShip for: notifications, a branded tracking page and delivery estimates.
The alternatives, one by one
Tracktor
Tracktor puts a real-time tracking page and an order lookup page inside your store on every plan, including the free one, so customers track orders on your domain with your theme around it. It supports more than 1,900 carriers and shows a delivery map.
- Flex, $4.99 for 200 orders: adds Shopify email and SMS notifications.
- Growth, $8.99 for 400 orders: adds estimated delivery dates, location substitutions for dropshipped orders, automatic translation of carrier updates, and removes Tracktor branding.
- Essential, $49.99 for 2,000 orders: adds custom HTML and CSS, custom order statuses, CSV reports and product recommendations on the tracking page.
It connects to Shopify Flow, Klaviyo, Gorgias, Zendesk, Omnisend and MESA. Overage is $0.05 per order.
Where Tracktor's tracking data comes from: Tracktor doesn't rely on a single tracking feed. For each shipment, it routes the carrier to one of five tracking data providers that supports it: Shippo, TrackingMore, 17TRACK, AfterShip or EasyPost. That combined coverage is how Tracktor supports more than 1,900 carriers on its free and low-cost plans.
Not a fit if: you want returns handled in the same app. Tracktor does tracking only. It also has far fewer reviews than AfterShip, CWILL or 17TRACK.
CWILL Order Tracking (formerly ParcelPanel)
Many comparison posts still call it ParcelPanel or ParcelWILL; the App Store now lists it as CWILL Order Tracking. It has the most five-star reviews of any app here. It offers a branded tracking page, email and SMS notifications, post-purchase delivery estimates from the $11 Essential plan, and pre-purchase estimates and an API on Professional ($59 for 2,000). It also includes carrier masking for dropshippers, upsells on the tracking page and shipping protection.
Good fit if: you want a lot of features at a low entry price and are comfortable with a busier app.
17TRACK
17TRACK is known to shoppers as a universal tracking site, and its Shopify app has the largest review count in this list. The free plan includes a branded tracking page for 50 shipments a month. Delivery estimates, multilingual email and removing 17TRACK branding start on Pro ($49 for 1,000), and transit-time and exception analysis are on Premium ($159 for 2,000). It lists 3,300+ carriers, the most of any app here.
Good fit if: you ship internationally with many regional carriers.
If 17TRACK is the app you are moving away from, see 17track alternatives for Shopify merchants.
TrackingMore
TrackingMore offers a branded, multilingual tracking page, order lookup and email notifications, plus delivery estimates before purchase and on the tracking page. Plans start at $9 for 200 shipments and $55 for 2,000. Its listing does not mention SMS.
Track by Loop (formerly Wonderment)
Wonderment now appears on the App Store as Track by Loop. It is built for brands with real volume: there is no free plan, and Starter is $99 for 2,500 shipments. Klaviyo, Postscript and Attentive integrations come on every plan, Shopify Flow and Gorgias start on Premium ($189), and delivery promises and the API are on Plus ($449).
Good fit if: you already use Loop for returns or ship thousands of orders a month.
Route
Route is a package protection product first. It is free to install because shoppers pay for protection at checkout, and it bundles tracking, returns and a cash-back program. Consider it if you want to offer shipping protection; it is not a like-for-like replacement for AfterShip's tracking features.
How to choose
- You only need tracking on your own site and a few emails: try Shopify's built-in pages first, then Tracktor or 17TRACK's free plan if customers still ask "where is my order?"
- You want notifications and a branded page under $10 a month: Tracktor Flex ($4.99), 17TRACK Basic ($9) and TrackingMore Basic ($9) all cover 200 shipments.
- You want delivery estimates: Tracktor Growth ($8.99), CWILL Essential ($11) for post-purchase estimates, or TrackingMore.
- You ship globally with many local carriers: compare carrier coverage first; 17TRACK lists the most.
- You also want returns or protection in one tool: look at Track by Loop or Route.
For costs at 100, 500 and 2,000 orders a month and which plan each feature needs, see Shopify order tracking apps compared.
Switching from AfterShip without breaking tracking links
- Install the new app and let it import your recent fulfilled orders before you uninstall AfterShip.
- Check carrier mapping: open a few orders from each carrier you use and confirm the new app reads their tracking numbers correctly.
- Update your shipping notification templates in Shopify (Settings, then Notifications) so the "Track your order" button points to the new tracking page.
- Add the new tracking page to your store's menu and footer, and redirect any old tracking page URL you linked to (Online Store, then Navigation, then URL Redirects).
- Turn off AfterShip's notifications before you turn on the new app's, so customers don't get two of each email.
- Place a test order, fulfill it with a real tracking number, and follow it from the email to the tracking page.
